Day 13 of NaNoWriMo.
Current Word Count: 20,621.
Ah, irony. I had a feeling that this would happen immediately after I post a list about increasing word count, lol.
So, it’s nearly the half-way point and I’m behind on my word count and I hesitated blogging about it because of the awkward timing, but these updates are essential to keeping track of my process this month and I prefer to be honest over falsely accomplished.
Today, I will be employing every single tip and trick I listed and some that I didn’t list because they were less about NaNo and more about plain writing/literature exercises. My goal is to write 15,000 words before midnight (it’s 3:45 p.m. right now).
To make it 15k in 12 hours, I’ll place a late deadline of 3:45 am..
If you look at the screenshot I took for this NaNo’s stats, you’ll notice that there are a couple days without a single word written including yesterday. Today is the first day I’m behind on the 50k goal, but I’m far behind on my goal of 75k. I feel slightly guilty about falling behind, but it gives me another short challenge of my own to tackle.
And Week Three is coming fast. I have this weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to complete my novella entirely.
I believe it can be done. I know it can be done. I want it to be done.
But, can I do it?
I know I can.
However, will I actually do it?
…I wish I could say yes, but I have no true idea whether I will be successful in this arbitrary challenge I’ve set for myself. I want to be successful though.
These last few days have been rough. I had a bout of depression a couple nights ago, as well as keep getting distracted by my other ideas, projects, life, books I want to read, novels/stories that I set on the backburners… how many backburners do I have by now? Maybe I need a larger stovetop… or to finish a meal already.
Anyways, it’s time to focus, get in the zone, and write, write, WRITE! :D
And for other NaNoWriMo writers also hurrying to catch up this weekend…
Good luck! – Dominika
